We did. For what you ask? To do research, because that is what we do at HALI. No more sitting like pumpkins as they say in Iringa, starting this week the HALI team is finally authorized to begin wildlife surveillance for the USAID PREDICT project.
We prepared our research permit application for the PREDICT project in September, 2010, and received authorization to begin the work this past week. In all honesty, a nine month turnaround for wildlife research permits in Tanzania is relatively quick. As the process for obtaining foreign research permits in Tanzania can be relatively complex, the HALI team has developed some materials acting as a resource and reference guide.
