Extreme Makeover Lab Edition

This is extreme stuff, really extreme.  But that’s just how we operate at HALI.  Our container lab is nearly complete, minus a few little details like installation of our equipment and bio-safety certification of course, but the construction is now finished, water and electricity connected, and the back-up generator is operational.  This week the benches and shelving will be installed and the interior made ready for office space.  So without further ado, I present Extreme Makeover Lab Edition – Tanzania…

Isn’t it pretty?  You can barely recognize those two re-purposed shipping containers.  We credit Professor Kazwala’s excellent taste for the color schematic and wrought iron rails, a nice vintage Ocean Pacific meets French Quarter.  Now if only that extreme Ty Pennington would do us the honors and attend our ribbon cutting ceremony.  Alas, we may have to settle for Brett Smith…

  1. I would like to learn more about what kind of contribution my son, Brett Smith, is making to your labs, both in Rwanda and upon joining the HALI lab team for virology training in Tanzania. I am so proud of him as he is such a smart young man and he has been looking forward to working in Africa for a long time!
